Information tech services company CGI wins US$98M contract with West Virginia
MONTREAL - Information technology services company CGI Group Inc. said Wednesday that it has won a contract valued at US$98 million to modernize West Virginia's financial, procurement, human resources and budgeting functions statewide.
The contract is spread over eight years and will streamline operations for the state, one of the few operating without a deficit, CGI (TSX:GIB.A) said in a news release.
"West Virginia will benefit from working with CGI's unrivalled government experts, providing a single point of accountability for software and services as it moves forward with its phased implementation," the Montreal-based company said.
Earlier this month, CGI was awarded a contract totalling US$93.7 million to build the U.S. government's health insurance exchange to bring coverage to an estimated 34 million uninsured Americans.
Founded in 1976, CGI Group is one of the largest independent IT and business process services firms in the world. It has employees in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.
